The protocol herein presented is intended to provide geomancy practitioners with a methodology for conducting collaborative readings, a process that can generally be referred to as synergic divination. This protocol operates on the speculation that a wider variety of intuitive insights can be gained from a set of readings conducted by multiple practitioners working with the same query. Essentially, if any segment of a practitioner’s chart interpretation is accurate, that insight should (in theory) also be reflected in the collaborating practitioners’ chart interpretations, potentially indicating the likely accuracy of that particular segment.
In order to reduce the likelihood that practitioners will influence each other’s interpretations during the initial phase of the process, each is required to carry out their readings independently, i.e., without sharing or discussing their interpretations with each other. The nomenclature developed for this methodology and an overview of the procedures are detailed in the following sections.
Definitions
Operation – a collaborative reading performed in accordance with the synergic divination protocol.
Reader – a participant in an operation who casts and interprets a geomancy chart in response to a predetermined query.
Lead Analyst – a participant responsible for: (1) collecting each Readers’ Geomantic Data Sheet on the date of submission, (2) reviewing Readers’ chart interpretations in company with the Assistant Analyst(s) to identify constants and variants, (3) completing the Operation Report and presenting it to the the Readers, and (4) moderating the concluding discussion.
Assistant Analyst – a participant responsible for reviewing Readers’ chart interpretations at the direction of the Lead Analyst and in company with peer Assistant Analysts to identify constants and variants.
Constant – a specific event, factor, theme, etc. that appears in more than one Reader’s chart interpretation.
Constant Score – the score given to a constant based on the number of readings in which it appears, e.g., if a constant appears in 3 out of 5 readings, its score will be written as 3/5.
Variant – a specific event, factor, theme, etc. that only appears in one of the Readers’ charts.
Geomantic Data Sheet – the standardized form used by Readers to document their chart interpretations (see Forms).
Operation Report – the standardized form used by the Lead Analyst to record the constants, variants, and other information pertinent to the Operation (see Forms).
Protocol
- Readers and Analysts decide on a query and come to a consensus on how it will be formulated.
- Readers cast and interpret their charts independently (without discussing or sharing them with each other) and document their chart interpretations on a Geomantic Data Sheet.
- Readers submit their data sheets to the Lead Analyst on a predetermined date and are not permitted to make any further edits or changes to their written interpretations, except for corrections to typos and grammatical errors.
- Analysts review Readers’ data sheets and come to a consensus on the constants and variants.
- Lead Analyst completes an Operation Report and presents it to the Readers.
Considerations
- Queries should have verifiable answers.
- The time allowed for each phase of an operation should be agreed upon in advance by all participants.
- For operations involving many Readers, a ratio of one Analyst for every four Readers (1:4) is recommended.
